5-Minutes to More Page Views – Make Your Content Netscape Friendly
|
I read some complaints about Associated Content providers getting shunned by Netscape (and elsewhere) when they submit news items or articles. This due to the fact that Associate Content is considered by some Net gods to be a Blog. Conversely, Associated Content isn’t considered a Blog by the dedicated Blogging sites, (e.g., Bloglines, Weblog), so, you’re not likely to peer grand of your content there either. A double standard? Yes and no, but it is a problem with a remedy.
While I won’t waste time defining what a Blog is, or is not. Here is the reality. There are Blog puritans, jealous competitors and anti-enterprisers that are against progressive, upwardly mobile corporations. To their credit, most large-scale content on the Web is influenced by advertising and hence undependable. The Net rulers and their public are also looking for unique content, not recycled material, such as that found on individually owned Blogs or Web sites. In either case, numerous links from one location, such as that bylined by associatedcontent.com, scrutinize decidedly commercialized and unoriginal. We can not help that these misguided souls do not understand that, Blog or not, Associated Content is truly, “The People’s Media” company. But we are not alone. Categorical misunderstandings regarding credibility took place when I wrote for About.com, back when they ‘didn’t get no respect.’ Look at them today. About.com is now owned by the NY Times Co. and is a top Web property. They fought the critics and succeeded nicely. I occupy Associated Content producers have the capability to do so. We have quality enlighten, originality, motivation and creativity on our side. Better still our information and opinions are not dictated by advertising. The 5-Minute Solution – Blogging, Copy and Paste So, what to do. Submit to reality and join the world of Blogging. Develop a simple Blog (It is not hard I promise) and promote your quality AC snort. This can be done by simply creating a new post and then providing an abstract or commentary on your article. You could copy and paste the abstract even. Then include a “Full Article” or “Read More” link that directs the reader to your Associated Express article. Presto! You have both a Blog entry and an AC article you can summit (using your Blog URL, see example below) Depending on the assure, it should be well received by the likes of Netscape, Digg, Technorati, Bloglines and so on. The primary disadvantage is that you will lose some people who don’t want to “click here” for more information, but the pros far outweigh the cons. The exposure for instance is the primary motivation and people that are interested will read your article. Then of course it is far obliging than being restricted to places that accept direct links to your AC relate. As I write this, the last article I submitted to Netscape in this plan, Paid Survey Scams – Should Advertisers Be Responsible? is in sixth region on the front page of the Money category and in three other categories, or tags, first to third place. Not bad when it took all of 5 minutes to post the article excerpt to my Blog and then submit the link and information to Netscape. Then why cessation there? I didn’t and I submitted to a few other places as well. What Else Do You Need to Know to Promote Your Blog Keyword optimization and knowing how to effectively engage tags helps your location. If you are a novice for now you can at least get your feet wet and circulate your work. And to be just, you might figure much of this out on your own; good tags are in part simple insight – thinking like your audience. Additional Blogging and Marketing Tips: 1. Get a Blog that is easy to create, looks professional and is current with the search engines. (Blogger.com is one that I use and their new Beta features are a big improvement. This newer Blog is easier to use and contains more spirited templates. Note: You will not see the recent features until you create a Blog (engage a template and name it) – then you can switch to the novel system. 2. Decide on the primary audience for your Blog and title and design it accordingly. Say it is about cooking, consider of a keyword rich or compelling title, add some cooking tips if you wish and promote your cooking-related articles from Associated Content. In most cases, you don’t want to promote all of your articles in one place as it dilutes their value and visibility. 3. If you don’t have much time to write for your Blog keep your content fresh by the many plug-ins that are available. Easy options include adding content feeds, known as RSS. One arrangement is adding your favorite links you add to del.ico.us (View AC article: Social Tagging Takes The Web by Storm) or you could use Bloglines or a feed from other topical Web sites. Linking to other AC Providers here is another good option as well. If this is over your head, don’t worry. You Can Learn how RSS feeds work later, it is also a matter of cut and paste. It is worth learning though; once you complete some initial setup, the feeds sustain your site fresh with little future misfortune. 4. Learn about the best tags for your Blog and articles by looking up related information on sites that expend tags, notice what tags these top articles spend. But don’t copy all of them, try to add some more original or specific ones as well. 5. Use general and niche tags where applicable. Example: General Tags: Cooking, Recipes, Christmas Niche Tags: Cajun Cooking, Louisiana, Christmas Recipes But perhaps not, “Spicy Cajun Christmas Recipes” — but you never know. 6. Later you can create multiple Blogs for different topics, or approaches to them, if you wish; Optional: Create a Google AdSense account. This one is up for debate but consider this. If you use Blogger, it is owned by Google and I can’t help but think sites there, and elsewhere, with Google Ads are favored. That is if they are not misused. Done correctly, I think AdSense adds a sense of credibility to the site and provides additional dynamic notify. It depends on the goals you have with your content and Blog, so use your best judgment. Incidentally, AdSense is also a way to easily measure page views and compare the success of multiple Blogs if you have them. Oh yes, I almost forgot, you can even make a few extra dollars with Google AdSense, but then that is a topic of another article. |
