Reports Gain pin compact vehicles continued participation in the U.S. market
According to transaction data in real time Retail Energy Information Network (PIN), a division of JD Power and Associates, compact vehicles continue to gain a greater share of new vehicle market in the U.S. most models of compact cars are available for consumers.
Sharing compact total new-vehicle market rose from 27.9% in 2005 to 31.2% in 2006. During that time, the share of midsize vehicles dropped from 42.8% to 40.4% while the proportion of large vehicles collapses size from 29.3% to 28.5%. It should be noted that six years ago, specifically in 2000, compact vehicles accounted for only 23.8% of the market.
According to Tom Libby, senior director of industry analysis at PIN, "growth in the compact vehicle segments is being driven, in part by an increase in the number of models and the popularity of small crossover vehicles. "
Apart from the increase in the number of compact models available, price, Style and functionality are additional factors contributing to the compact vehicle share growth. Libby also emphasized that gas prices in 2006 may have caused some consumers to eat no more than the purchase of cars and trucks. Not to mention the high cost of maintenance and repair body parts of cars and larger trucks.
Libby said In addition: "It will be interesting to see if prices stabilize at or below $ 2.00 a gallon, if we see a return to larger vehicles … I do not think we will. "
Due to the popularity of compact cars that are moving out of dealerships faster than before and sold faster than the typical new vehicle. Last December 2006, five of the seven segments with the fastest response rates were the segments compact car, with the premium compact CUV (28 days) first classification and the basic compact car (35 days) segments second classification.
Segment loyalty of owners of compact cars specifically in the luxury sector is also increasing. Similarly, the percentage of owners of both medium and large luxury vehicles not trade in a compact car and 20.8% increase to 25.8%. There is also an increase of 7% to 9.1% among the great leaders non-luxury vehicles.
And this year, 2007, seven compact models have made their debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The seven compact models which introduced the new crosses dedicated to smaller and more conventional small cars — and that's according to Jeff Schuster, executive director of JD Power and Forecasting Automotive Associates.
Among the vehicles introduced during the NAIAS 2007 include Ford Focus, Nissan Rogue, Volvo XC60 and some small crossover entries Infiniti Lexus, Cadillac and Audi. The volume in this segment is also expected to quadruple from 40,000 units in 2006 to 160,000 units by 2008, according to Schuster.
