Connect the Apple Cinema Display from a laptop with Windows?
I've tried using DVI (female) to VGA (Male) adapter to connect the Apple Cinema Display monitor laptop computer to a window, but did not. Is there an alternative way to connect? If I buy external USB DVI card would work? Or buy DVI converter?
DVI and VGA are not compatible. DVI is a digital signal, while VGA is analog. If your computer only has a VGA port, no no sign of the movie screen can be used, because its digital-only device. If the Cinema Display has analog capabilities, then yes, the cable is using work, but the screen is a digital only device. You can replace or add on a video card to the computer that has a DVI digital output, VGA or buy a DVI converter to the box. The video card is the best option as its cheaper and has much better visual quality. Almost every table, the tower computers have a slot you can add a video card. Laptops are a different story, however. Laptops usually have no way to upgrade the video card.
