activation key for windows xp professional or tablet pc oem – Toshiba?
I’m struggling with my desktop PC. I used a OEM Windows Prof and license from Germany, after a crash I want to rebuild it from scratch with a US Windows license, which I took from my Toshiba Portege. The desktop has a Notebook mainboard, and it seems Windwos works already. But I need a licensed version of Windows.
Where can i get one from? I wish to buy it legally, but because of the weekend and the time constraints (I’m based in Germany, so it takes a couple of days until I would receive the media!) I would like to find a way to buy it online and to “download” the registration/activation key only.
Does anybody know, how to achieve this?

Each windows OS has a 25 digit number on the back of the insert to be interred into a questionair from MS when you register the program. Once this is used then the number of the computer that it is installed on is added to it. If you try to use it in another computer it will not be able to be registered. You still can use it and activate it but MS will not let you have any thing on the updates except the security patches. I don’t know but it may be possible to move it to another computer by sending the information to MS and the former computer will not be able to use it legally. If you just want to change it from German to American license I doubt if you can but you would have to get the new number from MS. remember that the program is not the same in each nation so that may prevent you from doing this. EU laws are different than in the USA and the version will have some differences.
