POS means "Outlet." This is the system your company uses to make money from your customers and give them a receipt. Almost all systems collection are computerized for accuracy and convenience.
Essential Parts of a POS system
If you're in the market for a new POS system, you need to know what the basics are. Keep in mind that you can buy your POS system as a bundle with software included, or you can compose your own system by buying the parts separately.
POS Computer – The computer is the most important part of the system. Some computers are like POS PC POS run software that you load on them. Others come with software and does not work like a regular computer.
Cash Drawer – The cash drawer is where you keep card receipts for money, checks or credit that you receive. It is connected to the POS computer and opens only when the computer sends the right signal. This helps protect you against theft.
POS Monitor – The monitor lets you see what you entered in the POS computer. Many instructors are POS screen touch-enabled, which allows them to be the input device, eliminating the need for a keyboard.
Scanner – The scanner lets you scan the barcode on the merchandise you sell. Some scanners are hand held, while others are embedded in the device POS. The scanner is technically an optional item, since the UPC codes can be entered by hand, but using a POS system without effective that one is almost impossible.
Receipt printer – The receipt printer is connected to the POS system for you help quickly print out a receipt for your customer. In many systems, the printer prints the receipt that the receipt that the client's signature when paying via credit card.
Optional POS components
There are other components of a POS system that you may or may not need. If you do need them, they may seem Optional you, but what are the items that some merchants may not happen and still run an efficient shop.
Credit Card Terminal / Signature Capture Device – If you intend to take credit cards, you will need a way to read. Your POS system may have built into the option of reading a credit card, but if it does you will need a card terminal credit. You'll also need a PIN pad to allow your customer to enter PIN numbers and sometimes an electronic signature.
Keyboard and mouse – If you do not have a touch screen on your system, you will need a keyboard and mouse input to any information in your system. These may be specific to your type of store or traditional PC keyboard.
Customer Pole Display – Customers like to see that their order is being properly struck. If they will not be able to see the screen in your configuration, consider investing in a customer display pole which shows a summary of what is recorded in the system. You may not need this if your PIN pad shows a summary of what is done to order.
These are the basic components of a POS system, not including not the software. As you build your new store, consider which of these parts will be most useful. Building a POS system that will be practical and easy to understand and effective. This will ensure that you can complete as many operations as possible each day.
