The lap band procedure is performed laparoscopically which means that the operation is performed as a minimally invasive surgery, also called minimally invasive surgery. This makes the lap band procedure a less invasive surgery than conventional surgery weight loss. This results in less trauma to the body and a faster healing time.
During surgery, the patients undergo anesthesia. The surgeon will begin surgery through small incisions, called ports in the stomach wall for insertion of surgical instruments and a fiber optic cable connected to a light source to illuminate the operative field. When reduces food intake, the body uses fat stores instead of the excess food. In this way weight loss is achieved.
Later, the doctor can adjust the amount of saline in the band and this makes it possible to permit the release of the stomach pouch to reduce the time for the full increase. It also makes it possible to open the band a little if there is difficulty eating the right foods.
Lap Band adjustments are made in minutes. The adjustment process can help manage weight loss. The lap band procedure is the only method of weight loss surgery that makes it possible. If the band is too loose, weight loss will not suffice. Adding more salt will reduce the available size of the stomach pouch and limit the amount of foods leaders in the stomach. If weight loss begins too hasty, then the salt solution can be removed to reduce food restriction.
