Value Added Services: Wire and Cable Modifications

Cable wire and usually do not come with all necessary modifications to a specific application. For example, your application could call for wire with ink-jet printing for easy identification during installation and use. Similarly, you may want your wires dyed various colors for circuit identification system. This is where value-added manufacturers take over.

Several manufacturers supply distributors, manufacturers wire harness, and OEMs with value-added services for wire and cable products. A service added value indicates a customization of an order that goes beyond a basic service or core. In other words, the end user benefits for the "value added "to the standard service offered.

In the electrical wire and cable industry, value-added services include twisted, cut and strip, of printing, Bar codes, dyeing, custom post ups, rays, and more. These services can be divided into four main categories – Solutions Identification, installation solutions, solutions for labeling and packaging solutions.

Identification Solutions: Striping, dyed and printing

Striping and Dyeing

Manufacturers and distributors of electrical wire often add dye stripes or a base wire of another color. These processes are multifunctional, and that add value to the product, differentiate the wire for circuit identification and help to control the volumes of stored materials inventory.

To dye a wire, a machine specially built feeding the product through of a cable system of pulleys. First, the cable passes through a windshield wiper, "" a circle of foam that Covers the entire cable. The jacket dye absorbs a cable made that is present in the foam. After going through the windshield, the cable goes into a tower of heat to cure and dry.

Striping, offered by many manufacturers of extruded cable, is performed on the same machine as dyeing. However, striping, the cable passes through a foam cleaner. In Instead, the wire passes through a rotating head stripper around the wire before entering the dryer tower.

The stripes are produced longitudinal or spiral. striping post-production tends to generate a spiral band, like a candy cane. Longitudinal stripes, which run along the side of a wire, also are available from post-production, but are not as common as the type of spiral. contrasting stripes are generally used when more than ten circuits must be identified.

Almost all isolates are capable of being striped, as PVC, rubber, silicone and PTFE. Similar to lines, most PVC compounds can be stained with the specifications individual without encountering any problems. However, some compounds are irradiated CV-cured or are not able to be dyed, as they were originally designed for repel the petroleum ether and alkali-based chemicals. The color is not immerse in isolation and are prone to flaking.

Print

In addition to the bands and dyeing methods, there are other ways to make cables for identification. Many OEMs and manufacturers prefer using Printed wiring harness assemblies in their products. Printed wire not only helps in the assembly of products, but also benefits to installers and users finished product.

One way of marking the wire is inkjet printing. Using a dot matrix printer, a series of "points" to create characters on a wire. For example, the automotive industry, a harness can be made for turn signals. In this case, the specific cable injection could be printed ink "lights front left turn signal" or "tail." Each cable would be a color code on the harness and inkjet print, which is user friendly and easily identifiable.

Another way of marking wire is hot stamping, which involves a process similar to a typewriter. A character in a "head" strikes a colored ribbon, making the selected character (s) to appear on cable.

Installation Solutions: Twisting, braiding, and Cut & Strip

Twist

Many manufacturers original equipment wire pairs need in the manufacturing process. Assembly of one or multicore cables in various configurations can dramatically reduce the time installation. Allows wires are together, which in turn makes it easier to work with them.

In order to create pairs of wire, a process known as torsion should occur. Twist weaves multiple threads and ensures that either side by side. Two, three, even up to eight wires can be coiled.

The process of putting wire ends into a drill and a twist of the wire is a homegrown twist method is still practiced in the plant. It will get work done to some extent, but not eliminate the natural shift in each cable. This means that if the cable is cut into small lengths, not be stranded.

Another problem with this method is the cable takes the dirt and dust in the plant. The dirt can be transferred to the finished product, which could pose major problems. Bend using a wire twisting machine dedicated is the only way to get a good seat the cables.

Braid

A process that allows you to add abrasion protection in hostile environments is twisted.

Braiding is a process in which small strands intertwine on top of a wire or cable for added protection. At the beginning of the process, reel number, also called "coil", a very small gauge wire (32-36 AWG) are inserted into a machine braided.

The coils are placed each in a precise location within the machine and the ends of each coil are pulled to the top of the braiding machine. Then the coils are subjected to a spinning or circular motion, while a wire or cable is pulled through the center of coils. As starts the synchronization process, a fabric or mesh is made through the cable. Finally, the finished product is extracted from the machine reel braid large or reward.

Cut & Strip

Having the cord cut and peeled saves time and money and avoid excessive waste. Say you need 1000 pieces of four inches of wire to install the printers that you manufacture. For each piece, you need 0.5 inches of wire exposed ends. Instead of having their factory workers hand cut each piece of the reel and then remove the insulation from the ends, that the manufacturer of value added to complete the process for you.

Cut and strip process begins at one end of a strip cut and the machine where it is a reel in what is called a pay-off "." The machine operator enters the total length and measurements to be cut and strip the parts. Then the wire is fed through a sensitive wheelset pressure holding the cable taut.

Then the wire is passed through a pair of blades that strip the insulation because it can sense where the cable begins peeled. The cable is then pulled to the end to make the cut length. Finally, pull back slightly in order to cut the strip end. "Insulation parts cutting the strip can be left at the end of the wire to prevent the strands from fraying. This separate piece of insulation is called the slug.

The final cut and bare wire is dropped into a silo. The machine will finish the process by the total cable length of the machine operator entered at first.

Solutions Labeling: UL / CSA RFID labels, custom labels, bar codes

UL and CSA Labels

Wire and cable products may be shipped before the label with UL and CSA labels. The use of these labels ensures that products arrive at the delivery points and marked to comply with the internal classifications, aiding in proper identification and distribution upon receipt.

RFID and government Tags

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is another option value to pre-label products to facilitate their reception. These tags are encoded with a radio frequency that can be "read" by a transponder. RFID tags provide more than basic information given by a label printer standard or even a bar code, and can be read at long distances.

Value added by manufacturers also marks the Government. They specify the level of government classifications of Mil-Spec cables and wires, and can aid in tracking and inventory.

Shipping Custom Labels

custom shipping labels include a company-specific information is necessary to comply with its rules of law in the package. The types of information you can find in a custom shipping label, as well as the shipping address, including Part Number, Part Number provider, number of PO, Batch number and date.

Barcodes

This service will print the necessary information right on the shipping label on the standard bar code that the company uses. There are two general types of bar codes: linear, which is used more frequency, and the matrix, which has more data. Linear UPC Common formats are generally used in retail, and MSI, which is often used in warehouse inventory.

Packaging Solutions: Special Packaging / Reel Sizes

Wire is heavy, consumes space and is difficult to maintain in stock. In addition, OEMs have to worry about the costs of installation and use pre-and post-processed wire. Many manufacturers of equipment using wire usually be achieved coils or special spools in order to efficiently use storage area, keeping an accurate inventory and keep costs to a minimum.

Wire and cable distributors who cater to OEMs and harness houses have developed unique ways to keep cables. One way is to use large bulk Drum "reels." The drums are commonly constructed of cardboard or pressed paper (with a central core of the same material) and metal rings on top and bottom. When the cable is ready to be stored is placed in the drum with a circular motion that allows for easier removal. Storage capacity in a given drum may be thousands of feet, depending on wire size. However, if the drum is rolled or damaged, the cable can be almost impossible to remove.

Reels and reels come in different sizes and configurations for use with different types of bars. For example, large 6-8 feet tall wooden strips are wire coils great power gauge. Many manufacturers use wire 2,500 feet to 5,000 feet reels of wire hook up.

small gauge wire can be controlled in a plastic reel 10-inch core has a length of 5-6 inches and can store up to 10,000 feet Certain factors determine the size of the reel, need, an important factor is how the cable will be used in the manufacturing process.

If the manufacturer usually cuts the thread through the automated machine, the size or the size of the reel drum can be critical. For example, using an automatic machine, a large cable drum can go in just 30 minutes depending on the length of the court. Cost is another factor. As an added benefit to a size large spool or drum packages, many retailers offer discounts on bulk rolls.

With all their unique skills, value-added services while properly customize the solutions they provide for accurate wire and cable specifications. As an added bonus, the purchase of wire and cable manufacturer of value added is profitable for all that needs to be completed in one place for a single supplier.

electrical cables and cable distributors have the tools to prepare wires for convenience of the buyer. Whatever is the service, value-added distributor provides the ability to custom-order to suit individual process inventory and storage needs. This translates into a better use of time and space, and that translates into additional benefits.
