Social Networking and Social Networking Web Sites
|
Social networking is a Phase that is fairly new. No one would’ve thought that we could connect to people as easily as making a phone call. It might be even easier- the only difference is that you need to know how to use the computer and Internet!
Social networking is defined as connecting to other people through different websites. There are all kinds of social networking… google it, and then type in a hobby and there will be a bunch of websites. The first thing you want to do when you join a social networking status is put up a profile relate. The second thing is fill out the basics of your information (i.e. hobbies, job, relationship status). Some people don’t fill out anything, while others type in everything that they can think of. The third thing is to search for your friends or just let them find you. Your friends will find you as long as you have a good profile characterize where they don’t have to second guess themselves. Making connections is great for people who are searching for a job. A friend of a friend of a friend could have a job offer. Or your friend could have a job offer. Sometimes people just accept random people they don’t know to be their friends! Well-Known Networking sites: I’m sure everyone who has used a computer has heard of Facebook… well, almost everyone. Facebook started out only for college students, but suddenly grew and now anyone can use it. Every network site is similar yet different. Facebook is good for connecting with family members, old friends, new friends, anyone. Another ample thing about that is the celebrity fan pages and, at times, communicating with celebrities. There are also groups for anything you can believe of. It could be for a good cause like Music in Schools or something stupid like “I like to sleep with a blanket over my body no matter how hot or what the weather is.” Facebook is also good for applications… and there are also applications for everything. There are games like Farmville or Pet Society to other games. You can also update “what you are thinking” right now, also known as a status update. Twitter is basically a status update website. You net 140 characters to write about whatever you want to. You can write about TV shows, animals, whatever. It can be something funny, sad, profound, dead or angry. One good thing about twitter is that there are trending topics. Trending topics are a bunch of topics that people are talking about. You can regain it on your sidebar of the profile page. You can also search for trending topics in different areas of the country and the world (that is something fairly new to Twitter). Lists are also good because you can organize the people you follow into different categories. It seems like a lot more celebrities have Twitter than Facebook, and some of them will even answer your Tweets (that is, if they don’t get too many.). Myspace Myspace is similar to Facebook. The set up is like having your own web page, background and friends. Myspace is different because it has a different creator and set up. Other than that, it is dazzling much the same. Personally, I haven’t been on Myspace in over 2 years so I don’t know how it’s set up now. Linked In Linked In is a professional Facebook. This is used impartial for business connections and job possibilities. It’s about putting yourself out there. You can upload your resume onto it, or fill out the information that they need in that profile. People can recommend each other, and can connect to other businesses in the area, different states, or even around the world. You can also join groups in Linked In. Searching for jobs and posting is another thing that you can do with Linked In. That is the only main difference of Facebook. Social Networking Used for Hobbies The Photography Networking Site Pretty self explanatory, right?! All you have to do is invent a user name and a profile like every other residence and then you post some amazing photos that you took and get them out into the world! Associated Content I don’t need to explain anything about Associated Content either. I never heard of Associated Content until quite a few years ago- a friend told me about it. How Do You Use Social Networking? These are the social networking sites that I have used and heard of. There are others, but I am on enough social networking sites for now. Social Networking is a tall way to connect to people for numerous things. How do you use social networking? What do you want to get out of it? |
