This simple neglectful act can cause customers to look at your business in a negative way. Building up a customer base is hard enough and if you don’t give your customers a reason to arrive back, you’ll be shutting the doors for good soon. Established business owners know that it’s more important to spend more time insuring a returning customer base than to be constantly spending money advertising for new customers.
Courtesy calls are a good way to stay in touch with your customers and you only have to spend one or two days during the month to accomplish this. Although it is actually a business call, present yourself in a friendly casual manner. Your customers will be pleased that you took time out in your busy day to contact them. A very powerful diagram to compose more sales is to thank your customer for their purchases. Saying “thank you” to many customers may collect boring and seem ineffective to you but remember each customer is hearing it for the first time in your store that day and will leave an good impression on them. When they hear it every time they visit your store, it leaves a lasting impression and they tell their friends about it. When they make their purchase, make sure you thank them right then. How many times have you made purchases from other stores and either didn’t get a “thank you” or was thanked in a rehearsed meaningless scheme? What kind of impression did it leave on you? A simple pleasant “thank you” will mean a lot to your customers. All businesses experience unsatisfied customers. Help these customers as noteworthy as you can and don’t forget to thank them before they go. In reality, these customers have pointed out something that may need to be fixed in your operation and you benefit greatly from this. “Word of mouth” advertising it the way a lot of business owners win their customers. When you take care of your existing customers and make them feel appreciated, they will spread the word to all of their friends of how good of a business you have. This is an excellent plan of getting free advertising. If you run a business that caters to long time existing customers that call in their orders and have you ship them out, don’t take them for granted. Sure, you provide them with prompt courteous service but take out a little time to send them a “thank you” note along with their order. Also, from time to time, mail them a personalized “thank you” card. Competition is always around the corner waiting to engage your customers. Make it harder for them by having a friendly relationship with your customers. With the addition of online shopping, it’s harder and harder to preserve customers coming back but when you present them with a friendly place to shop where they are treated courteously, you have a greater chance of keeping them coming back. Thank them in person, with emails or mailing a card and let them know you appreciate their business. The time you invest will pay off greatly. |
