Here, the merchant pays the affiliate every time a visitor is referred to their site, which is whenever a person clicks through the banners or text ads belonging to the merchant. These clicks don’t pay remarkable – less than a dollar each, but it is important that you bring traffic through, so there will be more clicks.

2. PPP is popular among the merchants. Here, the merchant only pays the affiliate when the referrals result to action – meaning when the visitor actually buys something.

3. PPS, meaning pay per sale, allows the affiliate to be paid by the merchant every time a product is sold.

4. PPL, meaning pay per lead, is similar to PPS, but goes for companies that rely on leads such as law firms and real estate agencies.

There are also three other types of affiliate marketing: Single-Tier, Two-Tier, and Multi-Tier.

1. Single-Tier is when PPS, PPL, and PPC, are paid to the affiliate only when direct sales or traffic has been referred to the merchant.

2. Two-Tier pays not only for direct traffic or sales referred to the merchant, but also for the sales and traffic referred by various other affiliates who joined the program through recommendation.

3. Multiple-Tier, also known as residual income, pays whenever the customer that was referred returns to the region to recall another product.
