Top 3 Viral Internet Videos

Clever Television commercials and videos created especially for the internet are often termed to have “gone viral” these days, which means that the video is so accepted, everyone who sees it forwards it to practically everyone that they know, and within days or even unprejudiced hours, the video has traveled the world and is usually seen by millions of people.
One of the best known sites to which viral videos are submitted is You Tube, which is now owned by Google, and attracts millions of users daily throughout the world. It’s hard to list just 3 viral videos that I savor, but the following are some of my favorites: 
This is a commercial for a chocolate Bar called Stratos and is made by a Norwegian company. The commercial begins with a boy playing soccer on his own. He is obviously lonely and a big soccer fan, and the commercial clearly shows this. The scene then switches to his home, where he is creating the perfect romantic atmosphere for his parents, including soft music and candlelight. When they reach home, he heads off to bed, and leaves them to devour the moment. The video then cuts to a point 9 months in the future. The Mother is in hospital, and she has just given birth. The boy enters the room, looks at the baby, confirms that it’s a boy, places his soccer boots on the crib, and nods in satisfaction, before heading home and tucking into a Stratos bar. It’s a very cute video, very tasteful, and I love the tale line. This video is an initiative by Volkswagen to see if it’s possible to change the way that people behave, and it’s great to scrutinize. The video opens with a view of a subway station, where there are both stairs and escalators, however nobody is using the stairs to ascend to the surface, everybody is using the escalators. The video cuts to that night, where a team comes in and Covers the staircase with a magic carpet of musical notes. Each step looks like it has both murky and white keys like a piano, and when they are stepped on each one give off the correct note. In the morning when the subway station re-opens, people look at the stairs and decide to take them, being completely surprised at the sound that they make when stepped on. Pretty soon almost everyone using the station is using the stairs, with many of them trying to play tunes on them as they go up and down, rather like Tom Hanks in the movie “Big”. It’s a very clever and very humorous video. I wish there were more locations where this was a permanent feature. This is a spoof video showing a businessman on the phone to a dentist, calling to try and get the best price on having a tooth extracted. No matter what the dentist says regarding the price, the man tells him that it’s too high, and begins to negotiate cutting the cost bit by big, finally eliminating the anesthetic completely. When the stamp is just a mere fraction of the original, he makes the appointment, but I won’t go and spoil the ending for you in case you haven’t seen this yet. Viral videos are great fun, and a modern form of marketing for many companies these days. Whether it’s a television commercial that is distributed additionally via the internet, or a video especially made for the internet, viral marketing has taken off in a big plan, and has inspired a number of very clever story lines.
