Email marketing is a way to connect with the clients in a way that a website may be unable to do. When a consumer visits a website and can’t win what they want, they’ll usually leave if it’s not in the frequently asked questions (FAQs) or a response from the Contact Us option takes too long. But with email marketing, the business owner can give the consumer the option of contacting them directly. Hiring top-notch customer service representatives who can read responses to customers and give them the best answers can make a consumer want to continue to receive e-blasts.

But in addition to customer service, email marketing has other perks, including less money spent on print advertising, less money spent on advertising to other websites, and the opportunity for customers to get a heads-up immediately when original sales or events happen with your company.

A business can spend thousands of dollars advertising her company in a newspaper or magazine that may or may not get them additional customers. There is no way to track how the customer came to the business without asking the customer directly or filling out a survey, which many customers ignore even when prizes are offered, and money can be lost. The customer can visit your site once and if he signs up to be put on the mailing list, then the e-blasts would be beneficial enough to make the customer come back again and again. Some businesses use similar websites to advertise their product, especially if the target audience of that website would more than likely hold the product. But why spend all that money on paying for another website to promote your site when email marketing can lure them to the site you’re paying a domain name for. Instead of paying a third party to advertise, consider paying attention to your own customers that come into the store location. Ask the customers what sites they like to frequent and whether they prefer email marketing, online (website) marketing, or print marketing. Knowing what customers leer at most will give the business owner the opportunity to make the best business decisions.

For example, if a business owner is selling Sad haircare products and regularly reads an African-American focused newspaper like the Chicago Defender online, consider a partnership with that company. Send out an e-blast telling customers to pick up the latest copy of the Chicago Defender for print only sales. This way, both the haircare company and the newspaper win. And it also gives the business owner the satisfaction of knowing their advertising is working both for those who don’t get the e-blast but read the paper and those who don’t read the paper but do get the e-blasts. Make the email marketing work from all directions.
